Reversing the Downward Spiral of Distrust

The secret to breaking the downward spiral of distrust is for either participant to reach out and show trust.

The downwards spiral can only be stopped if one participant reaches out to the other and the other decides to take a step forward as well.

The steps can be small. To start with, small steps may be the most appropriate. This way, there is less risk for the person taking the steps. There is also an opportunity for trust to be restored.

Unless and until the steps are taken though, people and teams are held back, rather than being able to move forward.
